Life’s a Bench: Reflections on Our Surroundings
January 12, 2010 by Robin Plaskoff Horton
The Banc Image Miroir, or Mirror Bench, is like a chameleon, blending into it’s reflected surroundings, changing as the world passes by.
The sleek bench, whose seat and back are constructed of highly polished stainless steel, is the creation of French sculptor, industrial and environmental designer, Cécile Planchais, who has been specializing in projects related to urban planning and landscape since the 1990s.
I’d love to stand by and watch the bench change as the leaves blow in the wind and imagine in the snow the the seat might seem to disappear.
Planchais exhibited in 2009 in Paris at The 1,618 Sustainable Luxury Fair.
Produced by Cyria.

Interesting idea. I’m curious about the feeling when you sit on it… Is it allways cold, as it looks like? And what about the dirt, fingerprints etc.
Thanks for this post!
