Seeing Eye Flowerpot

March 23, 2010 by

It can’t help you cross the street, but EYE is a flowerpot through which you can view a plant’s root system. Why would you want to do that? EYE can provide information about soil humidity and conditions, light level, and ambient temperature, which it displays on the front of the vessel.

Russian designer Olga Kalugina’s smart flowerpot supposedly interprets information from electric energy produced by chemical reactions between the substances. Hmm, I’m not a scientist, so who knows, but if it works could be a useful thing for those without green thumbs. Now please pass me some water.
