Compost Your Picnic in Public Urban Compost Bin
August 28, 2009 by Robin Plaskoff Horton
Envi, the green brainchild of young French designer, Julien Bergignat, is an urban public compost bin.
You toss in your biodegradable waste and, using bio-reactive substances based on photo catalysis to accelerate the degradation process of waste, the Envi removes bad odors and polluting gas while turning your waste into nutritious compost.
I would like to know if the Envi is also capable of alerting people if they toss in something that’s not biodegradable…it’s the seed of a good idea that I hope will sprout into a healthy one that will bear lots of fruit.
Materials: stainless steel, aluminium, glass, polypropylene, polyethylene.
Envi was one of 58 projects (from 1074 entries) shortlisted for the second round of the BraunPrize competition.
