The Save Water Brick is a mixture of discarded plastic bottles and dried rotting leaves molded into bricks. Funnels within the brick channel rain water to nearby plants or underground tanks. It collects rainwater for consumption. The bricks are intended for external walls so that they can absorb the water, but the question remains: how strong are they?

If these were made without the 3 holes, it seems to me they could make good patio/sidewalk bricks. The water could funnel down into a cistern for watering gardens and grass. That would reduce the amount of rain run-off that in many areas is a huge problem.
It’s clear that they wouldn’t be right for home and office building construction. But the plastic bottles are said to have a life of MANY years, so the bricks should be long lasting in limited applications. They would be much lighter too!
