Foxy Modern Hen Houses For Urban Chickens
February 9, 2011 by Robin Plaskoff Horton
City chicks listen up: you too can roost in style. Described by its designers, Matthew Hayward and Nadia Turan, as “a stylish & sculptural piece of garden furniture with breakfast thrown in,” the nogg is a modern chicken coop designed to encourage domestic urban farming while adding elegance to your—and 2-4 hens—space.
Engineered and crafted by hand in the UK, the nogg is made from strong cedar wood which imparts a fresh scent and is also naturally antibacterial.
Oh wow! This coop has a skylight!
This coop lets your hens live in comfort while affording them a view of the stars through its skylight, which also automatically twists and lifts for ventilation. Its stainless steel trimming, locks & fasteners, and elevated glass dome add a contemporary flair while offering safety and durabilty.
The nogg weathers naturally and comes with a removable base tray for easy cleaning. Fresh eggs in the morning are accessed through a large, easy to open hatch door. And it’s a moveable feast: Comes with a hidden portable wheel system.
Approximately 4 feet in diameter. According to the developers, the product is “still hatching,” But you can email them for more info.

Beautiful to look at, but as housing for real chickens? No. I really wonder whether the designers have ever seen a live chicken, much less raised or kept any.

Backyard Poultry acts as a venue to allow anyone to advertise animals (and related accessories and necessities) for sale or wanted. We are not involved in the actual transaction between buyers and sellers. As a result, we have no control over the quality, safety or legality of the items advertised, the truth or accuracy of the listings, the ability of sellers to sell items or the ability of buyers to pay for items. We cannot ensure that a buyer or seller will actually complete a transaction. We do not claim to provide a ‘secure trading system’ for buyers or sellers. Backyard poultry is simply a place to post ads. The onus for the success or security of a transaction is entirely with the advertiser and buyer.
