Technology meets rustic nature with this handcrafted iPod and iPhone dock made from a naturally fallen log. It’s both a charge/sync dock and an amplified speaker system. Each of the three logs is a functional part of the system, with the speakers cleverly hidden inside two of the logs.

The dock station is crafted from a 100% natural, homegrown, organic log from fallen oak trees, from which the artist saved a nice 4-6” branch thinking he could dream up a good use for it.

The system, which stands about 3″ high, consists of a base station and two speakers, each housed in their own piece of a 5-6″ diameter log. The base has an iPhone/iPod docking cable with a USB end that allows users to charge and/or sync with their computers. The amplifier, housed in the base log, puts out up to 15 watts per channel and there are speaker terminals on the back if you want to attach it to your own speakers.

The included speakers, which each stand about 4-1/2″ high, are driven by “sound exciters” that, according to the designer, put out an impressive range of sound from the specially designed and hollowed out log. Though not high end audiophile quality, compared to most iPhone docks, the designer feels they sound pretty good as the natural wood really helps provide a nice full sound.

Each of these docks are made to order with a minimum 2 week lead time and the artist is open to special requests. Each is one of a kind as no two pieces of wood are exactly the same.
