Next week I’ll be reporting the latest trends in outdoor-indoor design from the Maison et Objet Outdoor/Indoor show in Paris. The international design fair, which runs September 9-13, attracts über cool brands and designers from across the globe who exhibit their latest creations while blurring the boundaries between indoors and out.

One of my favorite designers, David Rouyer, will be showing some new pieces from his collection of lightweight concrete furniture. Here’s a sneak peek:

The 100 holes chair, sofa, coffee table, and “paraventuteur”–a screen that doubles as a vertical garden trellis–are all part of Rouyer’s 100 Trous collection of lightweight concrete furniture. Easy to assemble, move, and store, the chair, above, is composed of three pieces with the back of the chair serving as a vertical garden. Maybe more for show than seating? I’m not sure about leaning back onto the plants…perhaps the combination screen and planter, below, is a more functional piece.

The Spline Chair: Concrete Ribbons

Rouyer’s Spline chair and ottoman are basically 2.5 cm thick concrete ribbons that can be easily arranged into different seating styles.

Six Cylinders Lounge Chair

The Six Cylinders Lounge Chair’s curved concrete base supports the six cylinders in, either leather for indoors or in a “faux leather” material for use outdoors.
