Whimsical Outdoor Pieces For Plants and Birds
November 10, 2011 by Robin Plaskoff Horton
Puzzel, modular interlocking planters.
Sculptors Ingrid Michel and Frederic Pain started out creating oversized outdoor animal sculptures then migrated their talents to the design of funky outdoor furniture and accessories. Their studio, Binôme-Jardin, weaves the feel of raw natural forms into a unique pieces fitting for an urban terrace or balcony. I first spotted their whimsical furniture pieces in September at Maison et Objet in Paris.
The duo has expanded their range now to include some pieces crafted from resin. The new Puzzle, is an interlocking modular planters that can keep anyone busy for hours rearranging them into a myriad of cool shapes to fit any space.
Poppy, a wood and resin bird feeder, above, features the same sculptural aesthetic present in Binôme-Jardin’s furniture.
Keep an eye out for more from these French designers.
