Who’s Doing the Tangerine Tango?

Alexia Michel de Chabannes weaves foam rubber tubes for Goom Chair.

So you may have already heard that Tangerine Tango has been singled out as the 2012 color of the year–the one color expected in the next 12 months to have the strongest impact on fashion and home decor.

Indoors or out…Hive bench from Arktura.

“Tangerine Tango, a spirited reddish orange, continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward,” according to the Pantone Color Institute. “Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, the Institute’s executive director.

Multi-purpose: Drum works as stool, ottoman, and table from Bend.

If you haven’t noticed, Urban Gardens has been using a strikingly similar orange for several years…oh, we must just be ahead of the trends. (Smile.) And so has Hermès, the grande dame of French luxury fashion brands known for it’s Birkin and Kelly bags.

You might need a second mortgage or sugar daddy for the Hermès bag.

Tropicana and Home Depot must be happy to hear this news since the two brands have been identified for decades by their orangy colors. But let’s not dwell on the past, let’s move into 2012…

Indoor/Outdoor Seating, Tables, and More

Farmhouse chair from Bend.

The tangerine and orange hues have already debuted in many garden and home decor collections in the form of containers, furniture, pillows–you name it.
Mix and match it up: Orange Beast from SixInch.

I tried it, it’s comfortable: Buggle Up chair from Fatboy.

Not your 70s version: Big Blo 1 inflatable chair from Biofield.

Fermob’s Flower armchair is a favorite!

Tea Party! Holly Palmer’s Teacup Stool.

The whole family can hang out together with the Headdemock from Fatboy.

Wind fiberglass bold outdoor lights from Vibia.

Woven polypropylene tuffet seater for stylish kid’s room or outdoors from Land of Nod.

I’ve always loved the Re-Trouvé side table from Emu.

Ottomans double as storage units too, from Lebello.

Metal Mag table from Pfieffer Lab can hold your coffee and reading material.

For Cooking, Serving, and Entertaining
The citrus color can be found too on juicy objects for the indoor and outdoor tabletop…

Dot Punch Placemat, bird candle holder, and tray are all affordable choices from CB2.

Pretty patterned Orange Blossom melamine platter from Touch of Europe.
