Crece Jicama is a collection of hanging ceramic pots inspired by the shape and texture of Jicama (Pachyrhizus erosus), a native Mexican climbing vine and root vegetable popular in Mexican cuisine. 

The handcrafted pots hang from long rust-hued leather straps, a nod to the Jicama plant’s tall vines which can reach a height of up to 15 feet long.

Crece Jicama is part of the Sabor a Mi collection from Mexican artisan collective, La Tlapaleria, a group of young designers who collaborate with artisans using local materials and artisanal techniques to create design objects inspired by Mexican culture and traditions.

Founded in 2013 by Ramiro Estrada as a platform for showcasing and promoting emerging Mexican designers and to encourage fair trade, La Tlapaleria has worked with more than 40 master artisans specializing in various artisanal techniques throughout Mexico.
