Wanted Design NYC Launch Pad Unveils Cool Fire Pit

Brian Keyes: Brændt Firepit
At the recent Wanted Design New York, designer Brian Keyes unveiled his prototype for the Brændt Firepit, a low profile fire pit which he says is meant to be “a domestic centerpiece for socializing, roasting marshmallows, or enjoying the night with family.”
The fire pit’s dish is formed of laser cut sheet steel finished with Cerakote, a ceramic high-temperature powder coating, originally developed for firearms, which protects the object from the heat of the fire, as well as from weathering, and wear from normal use.
The lathed white ash legs are finished with Danish oil to highlight the natural grain of the wood. Keyes is currently looking for a manufacturer for this prototype.
Keyes’s cool fire pit was featured in the third edition of the Wanted Design Launch Pad program, which includes a group of select market-ready prototypes from 24 international design studios and independent designers looking for manufacturers, retailers, or distributors. On May 18, a jury of professionals reviewed the products and presented awards for the best designs. This year’s Wanted Design Launch Pad jury included: Jaime Derringer, Founder and Executive Editor of Design Milk; Marva Griffin Wilshire, Salone del Mobile, Milano, Founder and Curator SaloneSatellite, International Press Director; Giulio Cappellini, Creative Director, Cappellini; Greg Keffer, Rockwell Group Principal; Noah Schwarz, Director of Merchandising, Design Within Reach; and Paul Makovsky, Editorial and Brand Director, Metropolis Magazine.
