Herb Planter and Cutting Board Duo
June 19, 2015 by Robin Plaskoff Horton
Wake up and smell the rosemary. Grow Pot is a utilitarian union between a traditional clay pot for growing herbs and a cutting board: just snip and serve.
Designer Hallgeir Homstvedt’s herb planter for Danish brand Menu is attached to the top of a simple oblong wood board. I like the contrast between shape and material, and filled with plants it makes a nice design accessory for small spaces.
Homstvedt, who describes himself as a “Trondheim-raised, Oslo-living designer with a love for simplifying designs and New York City,” explains that, “the original Grow Pots were designed for an exhibition in Tokyo called Woodwork, where I displayed the pots with different herbs. The original prototypes are now used for plants in my apartment, and I grow more and more.”
