Rooftop Hiking in Stockholm
March 2, 2016 by Robin Plaskoff Horton
What better place to view a beautiful cityscape than from a rooftop? Well you can do just that in Stockholm. Rooftop Tours offers the adventurous an opportunity to experience the Swedish capital’s skyline from 141 feet (47 meters) above.
As the tour organizers say, ”You’ve got to face your fears and live your dreams.”
But don’t let your fear of falling off the roof stop you–you’ll be secured with a harness attached to a wire system on a metal walkway spanning the length of the walk.
As far as those with a fear of heights, they can’t help you there and ask that you not attend. Oh, and selfie sticks not permitted, big surprise.
Trekkers meet at the statue of Birger Jarl at the center of Birger Jarls Square in Riddarholmen, an island in Gamla Stan, one of Europe’s largest and best preserved medieval city centers and where Stockholm was founded in 1252.
While you’re up there, see if you can spot the gardens at Djurgården, aka “The (Royal) Game Park,” an island in central Stockholm.
