Birdhouses That Offer Air Quality Info and Free WiFi
June 10, 2016 by Robin Plaskoff Horton
New smart birdhouses in Amsterdam measure air quality then alert the public with illuminated green LED lights when the air is clean, and when it is, the devices open up a local server to offer free and secure WiFi to those on the street.
TreeWiFi aims to motivate city residents to actively participate in lowering harmful emissions to reduce air pollution. The smart devices then upload the air quality data to offer detailed information on a hyper local scale.
