Concrete Plumbing Pipe Flower Vase Attaches to Wall
June 12, 2016 by Robin Plaskoff Horton
In his first collection for the concrete furniture and accessories company, Lyon Beton, French artist and designer Bertrand Jayr plays with ordinary objects like toilet paper, file folders, and now plumbing pipes, which he transforms into quirky and witty accessories and objects for the home.
His latest, the Pipeline Stem Vase, actually attaches to the wall like an exposed plumbing pipe.
A hidden glass test tube inside holds enough water to keep flowers fresh for a few days. And just so the kids don’t knock it over, the vase comes with a hook for securing it to the wall.
I’ve been a fan of Lyon Béton’s concrete furniture and accessories since I spotted them a few years ago at the design fair, Maison et Objet in Paris. The concrete stool on wheels, above, from their Edge collection was one of my top ten finds at the January 2016 Maison et Objet. Love concrete as much as I do? I completely enjoyed this article. I am totally impressed by your creativity. Its always inspiring to see designers take some thing very mundane and transform it into a work of art.
