A Lego Up on 3D-Printed Bird House
August 11, 2016 by Robin Plaskoff Horton
Is 3D-printed architecture for the birds? It is now. The organic branch-like facade of Bird House is based on Cairo pentagonal tiling, a pattern that appears in many Islamic decorative designs and on the streets of Cairo.
Bird House combines 3D printing with LEGOs: it’s made with LEGO plates and 3D-printed tiles with LEGO connections that form the facade.
There’s even some 3D-printed furniture to make the birds feel at home.
Designed by Rotterdam, Munich, Jakarta and Bandung-based architectural firm, SHAU. Photos via the designers.
